Protecting li-ion batteries using modular and open sensor platform
Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are pivotal in modern energy storage systems, offering high energy density and efficiency. However, they are not without risks. One significant concern is the phenomenon of off-gassing, a process where batteries emit potentially hazardous gases under certain conditions.
Prevent-iON® is listed as open & modular sensor platform designed to protect & detect battery energy storage systems (BESS). The system has a UL certification and fulfills NFPA codes for Lithium-ion Energy Storage.
The Prevent-iON® system can be configured over its inbuilt webserver. After initial configuration, the system is running autonomously.
The use of a special sensor box allows the use with our SecuriSmoke ASD family. The gas detectors can be integrated into the aspirating pipe system.
The Prevent-iON® system can be used standalone sensor or networked with the base unit. The networking can be done as daisy-chain or as star network with the expander hub. The system can be connected via standard protocols (Modbus/SNMP) to higher level systems.
