Milestones in the company’s history

The history of Securiton is closely connected with the Spreng family. The entrepreneurial success story began with Jakob Spreng and was strategically developed and shaped by subsequent generations, including Manuel and Samuel Spreng. Each generation set its own accents and strengthened the company’s position in the security market over the long term.

ISO 27001 information security

In view of the rise of cyber threats and the increasing requirements of customers, Securiton decided to set up an information security management system (ISMS) in accordance with ISO 27001 in 2024. The aim was to systematically protect information assets, manage risks in a structured manner and establish the highest standards in information security. Successful ISO 27001 certification took place in 2025. This underlines Securiton’s commitment to protecting sensitive data and ensuring transparent, traceable security processes.

Convergent and hybrid security solutions

The launch of SecuriCloud marked an important step into the future. With this digital solution, the company responded early to the growing importance of networked systems and data-based security solutions. Since 2025, convergence has been particularly evident in the intelligent networking of the expert systems SecuriEye, SecuriGate and SecuriSafe. Functions are used across systems and controlled via a central infrastructure.

Internationalisation

Since 2014, the international business has grown exponentially thanks to a consistent focus on fire protection. Since then, Securiton has had a presence on every continent with the exception of North America. We are the world’s number two with our special fire alarm systems.

Occupational safety and health protection

The Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) defined requirements for how companies systematically organise occupational safety and health protection. ISO 14001 environmental management

Sustainability gained significantly in importance at this time, but was not yet as strongly regulated as it is today. Securiton positioned itself early on as a responsible and forward-looking company.

ISO 9001 quality management

At the beginning of the 1990s, it was mainly large industrial companies that were certified in Switzerland. For an SME like Securiton, ISO certification was still a little out of the ordinary. Back in 1992, a company with ISO certification was clearly seen as being among the professionally managed and strategically thinking organisations. This was not a “nice to have”, but a conscious commitment to quality and structure.

Relocation to Alpenstrasse, Zollikofen

After almost 15 years, the space at the old site was no longer sufficient. Securiton had started planning a larger building at the beginning of the 1960s, which the 100 employees moved into in 1965. The new building on Alpenstrasse offered more space for the offices, workshop and warehouse, and enabled the company to further expand its activities. The following years saw regional sales offices set up, which today’s offices can be traced back to.

Relocation to Birkenstrasse, Zollikofen

The up-and-coming Securiton quickly established a significant reputation for itself. Relocation to the new building on Birkenstrasse in Zollikofen was completed as early as 1950. At the time, there were six employees. The mechanical workshop was located in the basement, with offices, assembly and the warehouse on the ground floor. The Director’s apartment was found on the first floor, below another on the second floor where another member of staff lived.

Founding

With characteristic farsightedness, Jakob Spreng Jr, General Director of Securitas at the time, realised that technology would become an integral part of surveillance in the future. This was the cornerstone for the founding of Securiton AG on 22 July 1948. In keeping with the spirit of a start-up, Securiton was run by Director Hans Kuhn from his private apartment in Bern as a one-man operation.
