Security for Dynamo Moscow Basketball Temple

Moscow’s prestigious club Dynamo has built a basketball venue certain to make other clubs green with envy. The new building underlines the Club’s claim to be a leading player on the European basketball scene. Securiton Rus was commissioned with the technical security for the futuristic sports hall.

The Russian capital now boasts two serious contenders at the highest level of European basketball. Dynamo Moscow is now the second club alongside ZSKA Moscow to emerge at the very top of this sport. The name Dynamo stands for a long tradition of sports club excellence in Russia.

Dynamo’s meteoric rise

Like its counterpart ZSKA Moscow, Dynamo Moscow is known first and foremost for its football team. Yet Dynamo Moscow has nurtured a whole series of other sports, including ice hockey, volleyball, cycling and specifically basketball. While it was only last year that Dynamo Moscow gained promotion to the Euroleague, Europe’s highest basketball league, it is far from an unknown quantity on the European stage. Already back in the days of the Soviet Union, Dynamo as a satellite association of the KGB was constantly vying with ZSKA, the Red Army Club, for predominance in the Russian capital. Things then went rather quiet for the Club for a while, until recently when it succeeded in winning the ULEB Cup, the springboard to the Euroleague. As a newcomer to the League, Dynamo has certainly made an impact. Together with legendary basketball trainer Dusan Ivkovic it has succeeded in putting together a team of top players that includes Greek and Serb internationals playing alongside US stars.

A stadium? No, a palace!

Basketball has become very popular, thanks not least to Dynamo’s success story. It’s certainly one of the reasons why the Club in Moscow’s western district of Krylatskoe has built a brand new, state-of-the-art “basketball palace”. The sports venue was recently officially inaugurated, with the necessary support of the Russian government. The new stadium holds 5,000 spectators, which is why security was also a prime concern for the operators of the new complex. The management was quickly convinced by the professional products from Securiton and the company’s experience with sports arenas. Securiton Rus gave an impressive demonstration of just how flexible the modular SecuriPro® fire alarm system actually is, and that this security system was the best solution. The project ultimately consisted of around 2,000 SecuriStar® fire detectors and a network with nine SecuriPro® evaluation and control units MCU 211. For Securiton Rus, Dynamo Moscow’s basketball hall is without a doubt yet another exemplary reference project.
