Tsar`s Palace "Tsaritsino" in Moscow

SecuriPro for the “longest historical construction in the world”

In 1775 Tsarina Catherine the Great decided to build a palace for herself and her son on the banks of the River Moskva in the midst of the very attractive Tsaritsino Park with its many small lakes, ponds, buildings and a church.

Most of the buildings in the park were designed by Vasily I. Bazhenov, one of the greatest architects in Russia. It took him more than ten years (1775-1785) to finish all the buildings, bridges and houses. After her first visit and inspection, Catherine the Great found the style of the architecture not to be to her liking and ordered the buildings to be destroyed and rebuilt in a different style. Fortunately only the main palace was pulled down, leaving the twenty other buildings standing.
A new architect, Matvey Kazakov, was chosen to rebuild everything again in the new style. He had just finished the walls of the main palace when Catherine the Great died in 1796. Construction was stopped and the ruins of the palace and the other buildings lay untouched for 200 years. In 2004 Yuri Luzhkov, Mayor of Moscow, finally decided to continue and finish “the longest construction in the world” and use it as a museum, furnished mainly with paintings and other historical items.
The first few buildings were completed in 2006; others are due to be renovated and finished over the next few years. As most of the walls were still in good condition, they were used for the new project.

To protect the famous, irreplaceable paintings, the choice of security system was accorded high priority. After careful evaluation, the customer chose the SecuriPro system by reason of its reliability and flexibility, and due to Securiton’s operational experience in numerous high-security applications worldwide.
The first part of the project is already finished; when the entire project is complete, the palace and all the other buildings will be protected by some 2000 smoke detectors, 1000 access control readers, and 2500 burglary/intrusion detectors and contacts.
