Protecting people's privacy while keeping a close eye on everything

Video surveillance is subject to many data protection provisions that relate to watching and recording video sequences. Depending on the legislation in force, owners and users of video surveillance equipment sometimes operate in legal grey areas – unbeknownst to them. Indeed, not everyone and not every area may be monitored using cameras.
The solution is the IPS Privacy Protection module, which is used to blur user-definable areas. Faces and moving objects such as vehicles are filtered out of video images and likewise pixelated. These three application scenarios can be used either individually or in any combination. The masking can be switched off at scheduled times, for example at night. IPS Privacy Protection does not affect the performance of other analysis modules. Movements are reliably detected; people or objects tracked; and images stored.
The software works with all the cameras and video servers supported by IPS VideoManager. The software module works with all camera types and video servers supported by IPS VideoManager. It can also be used for existing analogue installations. What's more it supports standard commercially available compression methods (MJPEG, MPEG4, H.264). With the dual control principle (four eyes being better than two), blurred recorded areas can be deciphered with two passwords. This applies to both live and recorded images.
