Fire protection for prestigious Budapest development
A construction project on a truly amazing scale is currently underway in Hungary’s capital, Budapest. Entitled Corvin Promenade, it involves the urban redevelopment of an entire quarter of the city, complete with giant shopping mall and office buildings. And Securiton Kft., together with its partner company, is supplying those buildings with fire alarm systems.
The huge construction project is called the Corvin Promenade and it is being built in the historic district of Józsefváros in the very heart of Budapest. It comprises a multitude of individual building projects designed to provide a complete programme of urban renewal to the quarter as a whole. Some 250,000 m² are currently under construction, which represents half the total project. This first phase is due for completion this year, by which time the Corvin Atrium, the Corvin Offices 1 + 2 and four apartment buildings will be ready for their new occupants. The largest and most complex building is the Corvin Atrium, a unique shopping centre with more than 200 shops and four office towers. The other buildings comprise restaurants, boutiques and more offices, and are situated on either side of the promenade after which the project is named.
A prestigious contract
After a long consultancy phase with the developer’s national and international experts, Securiton’s Hungarian branch Securiton Kft. and its partner Unielektro Kft. were awarded the contract for the fire alarm systems in this immense building project, which currently ranks as one of the largest of its kind in central Europe. With its complete package of fire detector installations Securiton Kft. argued a convincing case. Securiton Kft.’s good reputation with the Budapest fire services was also an important factor in its success. The buildings are to be protected by 24 SecuriPro fire alarm systems and 3300 SecuriStar fire detectors. Some building areas have been equipped with a total of four SecuriRAS ASD 535 aspirating smoke detectors and 33 ADW 511A linear heat detectors. The fire alarm system is connected to the building’s automation technology using an OPC server. Corvin Promenade is a prestigious landmark project for Securiton Kft. and provides an ideal reference for further contracts.
