Securiton training centre in Abu Dhabi
A new training facility specialising in video surveillance was officially inaugurated at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Abu Dhabi on 21 October 2009. The centre is part of a training programme jointly developed by the UAE’s Higher Colleges of Technology and Securiton. Students are to be given a deeper insight into the specialist area of intelligent video surveillance, with the presentation of the IPS VideoManager.
The exchange of knowledge at the international level in higher education is certainly writ large in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The twelve Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) offer a very high standard of higher education as a result of public sector investment and international co-operation with renowned companies and universities. As part of this education policy HCT and Securiton signed an agreement at Abu Dhabi Men’s College which provided for the opening of a new training centre and specialist lecture courses in video technology.
Official inauguration
The training centre is equipped with six IPS VideoManager systems and the latest security technology equipment. This latest and most advanced software allows students to acquire expert knowledge in this specialist area, which they can then use all over the world. Securiton specialist consultants will lecture students on site in theory and practice as part of two one-week modules per year. The official inauguration took place at the training centre on 21 October 2009. It was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the UAE and HCT Chancellor, Dr Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of HCT, Dr Simon Jones, Director of Abu Dhabi Men’s College, and Samuel Spreng, Chairman of the Board of the Securitas Group, and Hans Winzenried, CEO of the Securitas Group. In his inaugural speech Mr Spreng emphasised the significance of the new training centre for the UAE, adding that it would help the country to develop its security technology expertise in a major way. The generous luncheon that followed the inauguration provided an opportunity to deepen existing contacts and fittingly celebrate the joint venture. Securiton is proud to be able to play a part in achieving the high education objectives set by the HCT.
