New on the market yet already making its presence felt, the SecuriSens MHD 535 multipoint heat detector has been specified for the refurbishment of the fire alarm system in the Seelisberg Tunnel. The 9.25 kilometre tunnel is on the A2 motorway and thus an important element in Switzerland’s busy north-south axis. The MHD 535 fully meets the requirements of the country’s Federal Roads Office.

The 2009 Road World Championships in Mendrisio were a huge success for Switzerland in many ways. Fabian Cancelara won the time trials and came 5th in the road race. The venue Mendrisio introduced the whole world to the Ticino region. A construction project on a truly amazing scale is currently underway in Hungary’s capital, Budapest. Entitled Corvin Promenade, it involves the urban redevelopment of an entire quarter of the city, complete with giant shopping mall and office buildings. A new training facility specialising in video surveillance was officially inaugurated at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Abu Dhabi on 21 October 2009. The centre is part of a training programme jointly developed by the UAE’s Higher Colleges of Technology and Securiton. Students are to be given a deeper insight into the specialist area of intelligent video surveillance, with the presentation of the IPS VideoManager.
