Moscow Martial Arts Centre

A mecca for martial arts

Last autumn saw the opening, in the city centre of Moscow, of a sports centre without parallel in Europe. The colossal martial arts centre comprises not only the sports centre itself, but also offices, shops and a car park. Securiton was commissioned with the security technology for the building complex.

The Moscow Martial Arts Centre was officially inaugurated on 3 September 2008. The Sports Centre is set in a unique building complex covering a total surface area of some 60,000 square metres, making it one of the largest of its kind in Europe. The modern premises were brought in line with international standards and can now accommodate training units as well as competitions in sambo (a Russian martial art), judo, jiu-jitsu, karate, etc.

Martial arts centre

Construction was given the go-ahead in spring 2007, with the cornerstone laid the following July. Building work by the contractors Concern MonArh was completed in the record time of 18 months thanks to the good project planning and organisation as well as the co-ordination by a specially appointed management team. Due to its location and its good public transport links the Centre quickly became a popular venue in the city of Moscow. This is also certainly down to the fact that martial arts of all kind are very popular in Russia.

The Sports Centre has a useful floor space of more than 8,000 square metres and comprises a competition arena with seating for around 1,000 spectators and three other training halls. The building complex also houses office premises, a range of shops and a two-storey car park.

Convincing security systems

The security systems had to satisfy special requirements due to the building’s different owners and its different uses. With SecuriPro’s adaptability and the expertise of Securiton RUS, this did not pose any particular problem. An overriding alarm management system is used to monitor and administer the different independent subsystems for fire and intrusion protection as well as access control, all from a central location. Through the close co-operation with the local partner Atecs Npkc, the security systems were all installed and successfully commissioned in a very short time.
