Sugar factory in the Netherlands

Secure production at the Suiker Unie sugar factory

Suiker Unie is the largest producer of granulated sugar in the Netherlands and specialises in developing sugar-based products. It operates branches in Groningen and Dinteloord in the Netherlands. Over 11,500 farmers grow sugar beet on a land area of more than 61,500 hectares and send the beet to Suiker Unie for processing.

Suiker Unie recently commissioned a new Central Management System (CMS) for its facilities at Dinteloord. One of the first key steps was to partly replace and subsequently integrate the existing fire alarm system.

In co-operation with the CMS supplier, Securiton’s partner Ajax Brandbeveiliging B.V. helped to integrate the existing fire alarm systems into the Management System. Old and faulty systems installed by competitors had to be replaced with SecuriPro and likewise integrated. 3 systems of the Hekatron HX series 345 and 6 latest generation SecuriPro Compact systems from Securiton were connected to a higher-order Alarm Management System. Alarm messages will now be reliably forwarded via CMS to the security staff, who can immediately pinpoint any fires or faults on their monitors and trigger the appropriate interventions.
